Parents who have opted to enroll their students in the Newton County School System (NCSS) Self-Paced Virtual Academy will have the opportunity to participate in online orientation meetings conducted by NCSS curriculum and instruction directors. NCSS Director of Secondary Education, Dr. Nikkita Warfield, will conduct two orientation meetings—one for middle school parents and one for high school—on Tuesday, September 1 at 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. respectively. Dr. Penny Mosley, NCSS Director of Elementary Schools, will host the elementary orientation meeting for self-paced virtual academy families on Thursday, September 3 at 5:00 p.m. on the district’s YouTube Channel.
“We encourage parents who have opted to enroll their students in one of our self-paced virtual academy programs to participate in these orientation meetings,” said Benjamin Roundtree, NCSS Chief Academic Officer. “During the live broadcasts, we will provide information regarding student schedules, expectations, navigating the virtual platform, and the importance of parent support.”
He added, “The meetings will be held live on our YouTube Channel, but they will also be recorded and saved so parents may watch them at their convenience and also refer back to them if needed.”
